I go to the cinema almost once a week. The film I've seen recently is called Closing the ring. It's a deeply moving love story. Spaning two continents and a half century. I liked it very much. kiki Wed Sep 10 at 21.50 Last night almost at midnight my son heard strange noise around the bathroom wall. Then he called me to make sure that it was his mere fancy or not. We listened carefully then the noise came out again. It seemed like a little animal was scratching something. We didn't know exactly from where and what to do. Then we gave up thinking about it and I went to bed. He said while he was having the bath the noise disappeared We were relieved. We didn't hear any noise tonight so far. Was it a rat? If so, I wonder where did it come and go? Kiki Tue Feb 5 at 23.10 And the film title we couldn't recall was of course 'Silence Of The Lambs'. Simon Wed Nov 28 at 7.59 Dear Keiko, I have to apologize for my mistake at the class. I mixed up the film Love story with Melody. That's why there was a gap in our conversation. Since I found out my mistake I was relieved. Sorry again. See you in two weeks time. Kiki Tue Nov 27 at 22.07 I went to a hospital to see a friend of mine yesterday. She had got a breast cancer and had surgery. When I saw her she looked better than I thought. I was relieved. Kiki Fri Oct 5 at 11.33 Hello' Aya. I found out what the DVD you mentioned yesterday is called on the Net. It's called Grey's Anatomy. Simon you're right. Grey is a heroin's name and it's came from the famous science book called Gray's Anatomy. The third series is going to start in October on WOWOW TV. It sounds interesting. Unfortunately I don't have it. Kiki Wed Sep 19 at 14.07 I read a Michiko’s blog written about Hippocratic Oath. It reminded me of The Nightingale Pledge. When I was nursing school we had to lean it by heart and recite it every morning. I think it came from Hippocratic Oath. I’ve forgot most sentences but I remembered the meaning of it. Kiki Mon Sep 17 at 11.30 Last week I went to my daughter's home. While she cleaned the house,I went to the park with my granddaughter. There’re swings, sandboxes and sliders there. She likes swings. But she didn't swing by herself and so I swung. We had a good time. Cherry Sat Jul 7 at 11.13 I went to my daughter's family flat with my husband last Saturday. It has been two months since they moved to the new flat. Their flat is very modern. There're a waste disposal built into the sink, a dish washer and an I.H cooker ("I.H" stands for induction heating.) in their kitchen. And there's a kid room in the ground floor. If we wanted to see our children, we could see them from each flat on TV. Modern flats have good securities and facilities. I'm jealous. Meg Thu Jul 5 at 11.47 During a long holiday in this class, I borrowed three books and a tape. One was a thriller called "Don’t look now". It was too difficult to understand for me. Another was a love story called "Persuasion". I thought it easy to understand. Both of them were penguin reader's level 2. The other was a fairy story called "Alice's adventure in wonderland". It was the original one. There were a lot of unfrequented words. So I gave up to read it. The tape recording was from the book called "The Piano". I wanted to borrow the book at that time but there hadn't been any copied here. I bought it at Libro. It was a nice story. Yayoiko Mon Jun 18 at 17.02 I went to a reunion party in Ginza the week before last Friday. There were thirty people in there .We had been to New Zealand in different time. We had stayed at home in N.Z. We had studied English at the English school in the morning and had practiced golf in the afternoon. We dinn't know each other thougt we enjoyed a nice time. Meg Wed Jun 13 at 14.33 I received an e-mail from an English friend. She is going to come to Japan in August. She asked me what you want to have from England as her present. She knows that this year is special year for me. She already has got some tea and some blue bell bulbs for me. I thought that’s enough for me. I would like to say her I’m just happy to have you and spend time with you in Tokyo. I wondered how to express my feeling polite words. Kiki Sat May 26 at 11.19 Some of my friends are going to Cherry blossoms viewing to the Inperial palace park tomorrow. I can't go but if I could I'd take pictures. I have my house repaired then I have got builders in. Apricot Wed Mar 28 at 22.10 I went to Suntory Hall to see a concert yesterday. It was played by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Zubin Mehta. When they started playing music I was moved to tear by their beautiful sounds. I've never heard such a wonderful sound. Especially the strings sounds were beautiful. A conductor has changed the feeling of music.I like his conduct. After the end of the concert some people stood up to clap. The applause was very long. Apricot Mon Mar 19 at 19.32 Hi,Kiki. Long time no see. How are you? I'm fine. By the way, I've got a similar topic. Surely, we often say "nice shot". But we would also say " nice shoot", expecially when soccer or basketball players reach the goal. But "shoot" is a verb, as you know. I think it's an interesting Japanese English. fumi Mon Feb 5 at 21.15 I watched an interesting TV program called Eigo de shaberanaito the other day. The guest on that day was famous golf player called Ai Miyazaki. She said that when some one hit a ball very well Japanese people say "nice shot!" but American say "good shot". I wondered what's difference nice and good. Kiki Thu Jan 25 at 0.37 I saw a film called Flags of our Fathers the other day. It was wonderful. It's based on a true story about the Second World War in Iojima. There was a fierce battle between the US and Japan there. During the battle the US Marine Corps finally raise the flag the Star and Stripes on the top of the Suribati Mountain. Then some US newspapers showed the photos of the scene. After that 3 marines who related it were used as propaganda for raising money for the war as heroes. The film told about their lives. Clint Eastwood directed it. Kiki Fri Nov 17 at 23.27 Today, I maked a ' Moss Bear'. It is a garden ornament that you can see in a pot with plants. I'm going to tell you how to make it. First you need some dryed moss, a bucket, some water, some string, a pair of scissors, some 1/6 cut 22 gauged stub wires, and three buttons for bear's eyes and a nose. Soak the moss in the bucket. Mass and press it to make the parts of the bear, a head, ears, arms, legs, and a body. To keep their shapes, coil up them with the string . Join the parts by U-pins made of the wires. Place buttons on its face. Choco Sat Oct 14 at 23.54 Thank you for your interest in my blog. I'm afraid I don't know the painter. I found the painting in somebody else's blog. http://hana-mizuki.cocolog-nifty.com/hanamizuki/cat2191237/index.html MichikoSimon Thu Oct 12 at 22.19 I am interestead in Michiko's blog a day before yesterday. I have looked other photographs of Constance, but I haven't look this portrait. She looks satisfied with her life in the picture. Do you know who painted it? choco Thu Oct 12 at 20.27 I got a fax from my granddaughters. They said please live long and stay healthy. Then I remembered that today was Respect for the Aged Day. I had a complicated feeling. Kiki Mon Sep 18 at 23.16 I've been very busy recently. My working time has changed since in August. Before, I worked three days a week from 3:30 to 6:30. But now I have to work four days and working hours increased 30 minutes. Besides I joined the Social Networking Service called mixi. I spend a lot of time at my computer. I enjoyed talking people on the Net who I hadn’t even met. Simon, I found a kite photo group in a community. There are 30 people in it. They showed JKPA's URL. Kiki Fri Sep 15 at 22.13 One of my hobbies is tole painting. I painted a yellow penstand with a picture of wild strawberry on it last week. This is for a school bazaar in November. Noel Sun Sep 3 at 22.54 I have watched a TV. It's called "high school students quiz". 51schools competed each other to be winner. And the winner is URAWA high school! There is it in my town. This progrum takes place once a year. I'm looking forward to watching it next. Takuya Fri Sep 1 at 23.35 My favorite summer activity is swimming. I'm not good at sports, but I like swimming, because I went to a swimming school from I was four to I was nine. My favorite swimming pool is in Asaka city in Saitama prefecture, it's called "Waku Waku Dome". "Waku Waku" means exiting. The pool is big and clean, and it's very cheep. It costs two hundred(200)Yen for under junior high school students. There is a floowing pool, a children's swimming pool, and a twenty-five(25) meters swimming pool and a jacuzzi. I like doing the crawl more than the breast stroke or back stroke. Also, I prefer swimming in the pool than in the sea. I'm very busy this summer so I have'nt got time to go there. I'm going to go to there next summer. James Sun Aug 27 at 22.21 I'm going to tell you two stories about my mother, who likes growing things. My first story is about a snail. About two weeks ago, my mother found a snail in some vegetables which my grandfather have grown. She put it in a small bottle and she gave it some cucumbers and lettuce leaves. It was very small snail, but it is growing bigger everyday. My second story is about a caterpillar. Before that, my mother had also looked after a caterpillar. One day, she bought a parsley pot at a flower shop in my town. Then she found a caterpillar on the parsley. She was very interested in what it will grow into. She also put it into an insect cage. She gave it some organic parsley. For a while, she continued to feed it and the caterpillar became a pupa. Then one morning the pupa became a butterfly and flew away. I'm very interested in what my mother is going to look after next. Jake Sun Aug 27 at 22.17 I'm going to talk about a foreigner called Peter. He's from Holland. I've been met him at once. But I have a few I know him well, because my father told us a lot about him. He is one of my father's business partners. About four years ago, Peter sent him an email. In it, he asked my father if I had any Pokemon goods. At that time, I did have some unwanted Pokemon goods. So I sent them to him with a short letter. After that I had a message from him. He said his two boys were very happy to have them and they had showed them to classmates. Recently, my father told me that Peter had moved to France for his job. And he has a chance to come to Japan soon. I hope to see him again if possible. John Sun Aug 27 at 22.13 The day before yesterday I took my granddaughters to the cinema in Ikebukuro. We saw a film called Heidi. It's based on a children's story written by Johanna Spyri. It was an English film but we saw a Japanese dubbed one. The child actresses were very well and scenery was wonderful. Charlie Chaplin's daughter was also in it. Kiki Thu Aug 17 at 23.47 Hello, John, Jake and James. I enjoyed reading your massages. They were very interesting. But what is a snap? Jake. Is it a little creature like insect? I couldn't find proper translation for the word in my dictionary. Please tell me. Kiki Sat Aug 12 at 0.24 3. But today We thought about our senior life easily. On our way home We droped in a coffee shop and talked about our life styles. Apricot Wed Oct 12 at 21.17 It sounds like you love operas, Apricot. I went to the all Japan Guitar contest with a friend of mine today. It was in the Edogawa culture center. One of my friends Michie who lives in Kanazawa belongs to a guitar orchestra and gave me the tickets. There were 90 people in it. They came all the way from Kanazawa for the contest. There were 29 entries. We listened to half of them then we left there so we don’t know the winner. I hope my friend’s win. Apricot Sat Oct 8 at 21.06 I watched an interesting TV program yesterday. It was about a garden in Vermont in the US. It was wonderful. An old picture book writer called Tasha Tudor has been looking after the garden for about 30 years. The TV showed around one year of the garden. I learned how hard growing flowers are. I was very surprised to hear that she was influenced by Graham Bell. She said her mother and his daughter were cross friends. She uses old cooking tools yet. But she thanks every morning when she washes her face for Edison's invention of electricity. Before that she had to carry water long way from a spring. Kiki Sat Sep 24 at 17.19 Did you get the free tickets of the play, Apricot? I also read an article about the play. I like the actress Tomoko Naraoka. But I've never seen any of her plays. I just saw her on TV. I think she is great. I saw the film Driving Miss Daisy. Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman were in it. It was wonderful. I hope the play is going better than the film. Kiki Tue Sep 20 at 23.57 Last week I got a ticket of the theater called 'Driving Miss Daisy'. Mr.Nakadai and Ms.Naraoka will be play in it.I saw an ad in the newspaper. I was lucky that I could get two tickets. I'm going to there with a friend of mine. Apricot Tue Sep 20 at 22.08 Hi! Cherry, yes, we missed the Jane Austin center. We passed in front of it though. Do you think we should have gone there? I haven't read any of her books yet. But I saw a film called Emma based on her book. I'm interested in one of her books called Pride and Prejudice because in the film "You've got mail" the heroine often mentioned about the book. Since I saw it I wanted to read it but I didn't do it yet. I didn't know that the book Persuasion is in the class. Isn't it difficult to read? I'd like to read it near future. Kiki Mon Sep 19 at 11.56 This morning I went to a gardener in Angio in my daughter's car. There were a lot of the gardeners.I bought some photogenic flowers and two fig trees. One of my favorite fruit is a fig.I sometimes get some figs at a fruit shop but they always aren't sweet enough to eat.So I wanted to grow up them in my garden.Paphaps I will be able to eat the nice them next year. Apricot Sun Sep 18 at 16.54 I borrowed three books from our English school this summer holiday.I wanted to read them during last August. But I only finished one of them called "Persuasion" yesterday. Jane Austen wrote it. When I had been to Bath with Kiki, there was the Jane Austen center in Gay Street. We had gone through there by a taxi several times. If we had had enough time to go there, we could have seen the Jane Austen's life and work. The story reminded me of Bath. Cherry Sun Sep 18 at 12.23 I saw a lot of friends of hers and found out her living in the US. And I went to see her new boss yesterday. He hopes that she will work hard. She has good friends and a good job here. I thought it would be uncomfortable to live in a foreign country. I found she enjoyed living here. I was really relieved. See you soon. Anti Fri Sep 16 at 10.53 Wow! It's great that you sent a lot of messages from the US, Anti. I'm impressed with all of them. It's getting cooler here in Tokyo. Today there's a cool breeze blowing. I believe that your English improved a lot. See you soon. Kiki Thu Sep 15 at 16.52 Thank you, Cherry. I saw the Statue of Liberty from a ferry last week. The day before yesterday, my daughter asked a friend of hers to a botanical garden and chat with me for an hour. He is Joe. We went into Costa Rica Garden. There were a lot of plants and butterflies there. He told me about them slowly but I only understood a little bit what he was saying. I sometimes asked him to repeat it again. He tried telling me with simpler words. I enjoyed chatting with him. Anti Thu Sep 15 at 0.20 You are enjoying your holiday with your daughter, Anti. I’ve never been to America without Hawaii. Have you seen the Statue of Liberty yet? Did you go elsewhere? I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip. I’ve Cherry Tue Sep 13 at 10.37 We went to see the Niagara Falls yesterday. It took three hours and a half by car. I was amazed that a lot lot lot of water was falling down quickly. I have never seen such a wonderful falls like them. We went on a boat to have a better look. We were in a rainwear, but spray was getting harder and harder and we got wet. I couldn't see them well because my sunglasses were also in a drip. Anti Tue Sep 13 at 3.22 We went to a house of one of her friends yesterday. They had a small party for me. They speak English and Spanish. I could understand a little what they were talking in English, but when they spoke two languages I was confused sometimes. Their land and the house were so big that I could walk around. And it made me feel relaxed. Anti Sun Sep 11 at 19.09 It seems like you are having wonderful days in the US, Anti. I love musicals so I'd like to go to Broadway one day. I saw a film called Mother Teresa with a fried of mine. Of course it's about her life. It was wonderful. Olivia Hussey played the part of Mother Teresa. She was excellent. I cried a lot and I heard some people sobbing there. Kiki Sat Sep 10 at 11.40 I’m sorry I couldn't do the Internet for 3 days. We got back to my daughter’s in the morning. Yesterday we went to see a musical called Lion king on the Broadway. It was really good. I have never seen such an excellent show like this. Actors performed the parts in a play as if they were real animals. And I was surprised of the stage setting. It was just at the small stage but it seemed like in the jungle. I think that's why it attracts a lot of people for a long time. Anti Fri Sep 9 at 9.02 What a nice surprise to hear you from NY Anti. But I'm sorry about your flight and your toe. Without those you seem to be happy. Enjoy your holiday! I look forward to hearing about your trip. Kiki Mon Sep 5 at 14.26 Yesterday the flight delayed 3 hours and I stayed at Narita Airport for 6 hours. It was teribble. And I had another problem. In my hurry to go out of my house, I stumbled on a shue. One of the fingers of my right foot hurt. I thought it would get better soon. But when I got to the Airport it hurt a lot. I worried if it might be broken. I went to an Airport clinic and asked what to do. There wasn't a plastic surgery and a xray doctor there. I was stuck with poulticing it. Anyway I am in NY. I hope it dosen't hurt today. Anti Mon Sep 5 at 6.49 This morning I was really disappointed. I wanted to get an advance ticket of the concert by Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. There were several ticket centeres for them. They started to sell them at 10am on the 3rd Sep. So I called just on time. But the lines were busy, but I went on calling. After one hour at last I make it! But they said all of the seats were sold out.It was surprising how quicly they were sold out. Apricot Sat Sep 3 at 12.31 Thank you very much for telling me about the film Vera Drake, Simon. The story was very sad but actresses and actors were excellent. I enjoyed it very much. Kiki Fri Sep 2 at 22.57 I saw a Japanese film called The Face of Jizo last night. It was based on a play written by Hisashi Inoue. The story was about a woman who was a survivor of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. Rie Miyazawa played the part of the woman. She was wonderful. While I was watching it I cried all the time. Kiki Wed Aug 24 at 23.27 Thank you for the beautiful photographs you sent me by e-mail, Apricot. There were some photographs of flowers there. I don't know well flowers. I recognized only thistles. The normal color of pinecones is brown, but Oosirabiso's one is very beautiful purple. Your photographs are excellent. Cherry Sat Aug 20 at 20.59 I'm surprised to hear the news, Cherry. As you said she looked happy and healthy. I didn't talk much with her so I didn't know how old she was. But I thought that she was younger than I was. I felt that who could tell what might happen in the future. I'll pray for her. Kiki Fri Aug 19 at 23.14 I've got the sad news. When I went to England with Kiki, I met one of American women. We were the same group of bus tours. Next day we went to Wells, we saw her again in a bus by chance. I had taken her two photos in Stonehenge and sent them to her. Her husband sent me e-mail. It says that she died of a heart attack in England on the 3rd of May. It was just four days that we had seen her in the bus. She was a cheerful and friendly woman. Cherry Fri Aug 19 at 16.14 I'll scan some of my photographs into my P.C so that I can send you some of them with my email, cherry. I prefer relaxing in the summer. So I sometimes take a nap and listen to music. That's why I'm overweight. Apricot Tue Aug 16 at 21.47 You are enjoying this summer holiday, Apricot. I was interested in the Oosirabiso so that I looked for it on my computer. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. I haven't any plane to go on a trip this holiday. I have been borrowing three books from our English school. But I haven't read them yet. Cherry Sun Aug 14 at 22.07 I took a lot of flower's photos at Tugaike and Happo-one in Hakuba. There were about 2000 meters above sea level. But WE went there by an aerial cableway. The weather wasn't fine though We could walk in the fresh air. The mountains were covered in the mists. There were magnificent scenery. Besides We saw very rare pine cones. The pine trees calld Oosirabiso have the purple conens once forty years. They were wonderful. Apricot Sat Aug 13 at 15.01 I also noticed the article about Peter Jennings. Although I haven't seen the ABC news so often, I thought he was good. In fact sister-in-law also has lung cancer. It has been two years since her illness was found. She has tried latest anticancer drugs one after another. Fortunately She's living at home quietly now. We are impressed with ever-progressing medical treatment. Ann Thu Aug 11 at 19.03 Today I knew that Peter Jennings died of lung cancer. From when I started studying English, sometimes I see the ABC news. I saw his reporting from Iraq. I'm his fan. On the April he said that he had had lung cancer. I thought that he looked not so seriously and might be on TV again. He was still 67. Cherry Wed Aug 10 at 0.37 It was two photographer's exhibition,Kiki. One is Mr Oide. He is a fashion designer. But he likes to take some flower's photos such as lotuses, roses and so on. He published his photos book. The other is Mr Hukuhara who is a previous president in Siseidou. He's been growing a lot of Orchids in his green house. I'm going Hakuba on a tour. In fact I want to go by myself, but it's impossible. Even in Chichibu I was lost. Apricot Sat Aug 6 at 15.53 Was it a famous photographer's exhibition or something? Apricot. I hear there are a lot of wild flowers in Hakuba. It's called a wild flower field, isn't it? Are you going there on a tour or by your self? I hope that you'll able to take beautiful photos of flowers. Have a nice holiday! He was honored as Best Actor at Cannes film festival last year. The last half of the film I couldn't stop crying. Kiki Tue Aug 2 at 22.07 Dear Apricot, sorry I didn't tell you the detail of my experiences. Actually I was on a subway when the earthquake happened. I didn't feel any shakes at all. The subway I was on was just arrived Nishinipori at the time. After got off it I knew there was the strong earthquake so I took a taxi from there. It cost only 7 hundred 40 yen. I didn't spend much money. Kiki Tue Jul 26 at 18.58 It must have been expensive to come home by taxi,Kiki. I was in the Mitsukosi basement for shopping when the earthquake happened. I was shocked. I went to Omiya yesterday. One of our orchid groupe members is in hospital in Omiya. He's had a kind of leukemia. He's 80years old. Even though he's helped us as our leader. I've known him since I started growing orchids. I went to the hospital with a friend of mine who usd to has leukemia but she is getting better now. He was really glad to see her. I wish he will get well soon. Apricot Mon Jul 25 at 13.08 I'm sorry for my late reply, Apricot. You really love operas, do'’t you? And you seem like enjoying your life very much. Yesterday I went to Ginza to listen to a soprano recital. It was in the nexus hall in Chanel building. I'm not interested in any brand goods so I had never been there before. And I didn't even know there's a hall there. When I went in the building I felt that I was out of place. The recital was free. I hear Chanel is supporting young talented musicians. Before the recital they served some drinks for each audiences. The songs were beautiful. I had wonderful time. Unfortunately on the way home there was a quite big earthquake. Because of that most of the transportation stopped. I had to come home by taxi. Kiki Sun Jul 24 at 12.04 I saw an Opera 'Carmen' at the Orchard Hall last night. The players were from the Czech Republic. They were wonderful, especially their productions were great. But it's a bit expensive than the other cinemas Kiki Fri Jul 8 at 10.26 I supposed to have an out door photo class yesterday, but it was post.phoned because of the bad weather. Instead of it I had the class in a room. Miyuki and I saw a lot of our teacher's photos in the CD on the P.C. They were really wonderful. We realized how wonderful teacher he is. In the evening I went to the Suntory Hall to see a concert with Kiki and Cherry. I've got the ticket from Kiki. The players were from Germany. Kiki, Thank you very much for your kind. Apricot Thu Jul 7 at 21.23 Last night I watched the Wimbledon women's final on TV. At the beginning Miss. Davenport had been leading so I thought she would win soon. But I was wrong. Since the end of the second set Miss. Williams played very well. After all it lasted 2 hours 45 minutes and Miss. Williams won it. During the match I was getting sleepy but it was so exiting that I couldn't stop watching it. Kiki Sun Jul 3 at 15.16 Thank you very much for your interesting information, Ann. I got a lovely e-mail from an English friend. She told me about her daughter and lovely visitors in her garden. Her daughter is going to Wales for doing Duke of Edinburgh Award. She said she told me about that before. I might have heard about it when I went to England but I don't remember anything about that. I looked it up on the Net but I couldn't find any proper answers yet. I'll ask her more detail of that event. Two squirrels and a pheasant couple are coming in her garden. She is feeding them but mail pheasant complained her not to give him any peanuts because she gave them only sunflower seeds. I read her e-mail with smile. Kiki Wed Jun 29 at 21.48 Dear Kiki I think Koshiro's daughter Takako Matsu was good. My friend who is in the musical said her performance was very improving compared to the last one two years ago. I think the older she gets the better she plays. The next day we went it seemed that the Empress saw the musical. My friend said he got a bit nervous because the presence of the Empress changed the atmosphere of the theatre. His story was interesting. Ann Wed Jun 29 at 15.59 It sounds like you enjoyed the musical with your daughters, Ann. I saw the musical about ten years ago. At that time one of Kohshiro's daughters was also in it. What about this time? There are a lot of beautiful songs in it such as The Impossible Dream. Last Thursday I saw a film called Closer. It was boring. The actors and actresses were very good though. Kiki Sun Jun 26 at 23.34 This Monday I went to a musical called 'Man of La Mancha' with my two daughters. An actor called Kosiro Matsumoto has been playing the leading part of it for a long time. In fact a friend of mine plays the role of the priest in it. He's also a teacher of the chorus that I joined last year. After the performance, we visited him backstage. He talked about the musical enthusiastically. We had a great time. Ann Thu Jun 23 at 8.54 I saw an Opera called Salome at NHK Hall on saturday. The player were from Poland. I didn't have time the day it was on the air so I recorded it and saw it yesterday. It was wonderful. I was moved by it too. It was an old black and white one even though it seemed to be fresh. I found an interesting thing about the actress called Patty Duke. She was in the film as Helen's role and 17years later she acted Helen's teacher's role. Kiki Tue Jun 14 at 21.16 Thank you for your kind message Kiki. I saw a film called The Miracle Worker on TV last week.It was played for an actress Anne Bancroft's memorial. She died two weeks ago. Anne Bancroft played as the governess calld Ann who also has eyes ploblem, so she wore sunglasses. Six years old Helen's behavier was very bad, but her parents pitied her. They didn't understand how they could do for her. They asked Ann teaching her. Ann taught her a finger sign by the alphabet to communicate with the others. However it was very difficult but she had done it. I was really moved by the film. Apricot Sun Jun 12 at 13.35 I'm sorry to hear about the friend of yours, Apricot. I know how sad you are. But don't think too much about that. Cherry, the soba restaurant you went sounds interesting. It seems like that he runs it as his hobby. I'd like to go there someday. As you know one of my sisters in law also runs a soba restaurant. But she runs it for living. Kiki Wed Jun 1 at 23.27 Last Sunday I went to Chichibu with my husband by a Red Arrow express train. One of my husband's friends runs the soba restaurant there. He retired from his job. After that he opened the restaurant. He makes all processes by himself from to plant buckwheat seeds to serve soba to customers. So he plants them on August and harvests them on October. And he runs the restaurant from November to Jun. The restaurant is opened only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. His hobbies are to clime mountains and to make soba. His customers say that his soba is very nice taste. He said that he is very happy when he heard it. We enjoyed having a nice time to have soba, to drink beer and to see a nice view in the country. Cherry Tue May 31 at 10.50 I went to the school's annual reunion yesterday. We met at a Japanese restaurant called Hana in the Marunouchi Kokusai building. We had a really nice meal. About 20 people came there. However We were shocked to hear that one of our members had died. It was just one month ago. She was a leader. We always trusted her. Her family didn't want to tell us about her death. But we thought she may have killed herself. Because We got a post card from her which she had written in a red pen " I'm going to travel for a long time soon,so I won't be able to meet you" underneath it " I'm looking foward to seeing you" in a black pen. At first she wrote it in the black pen, after that she may have changed her mind. On the next day she posted it she had died. We didn't understand what happened with her. We were very sad. Apricot Mon May 30 at 21.50 I went to Tomobe in Ibaragi prefecture to see a friend of mine yesterday. She's got a new house there and moved from Tokyo last month. Her house is really modern. When I used the toilet I was surprised because it flushed automatically. Inside the house is also decorated modern and beautifully. I thought she has a good taste of decoration. I was supposed to go there with a friend but she couldn't come. I was sorry about that. I thought, if she had been there she would have seen her wonderful house. Kiki Mon May 30 at 11.40 Dear Apricot. I saw the film in a cinema called Chanter in Hibiya. I recommend it. Hello! Ann I'm glad to hear that you saw the web site. Do you have a copy of the book that your husband's company published? There are a lot of beautiful Cathedrals in England. I hope you'll be able to go there some day. I'd like to go there again. Kiki Wed May 18 at 22.54 Dear Cherry and Kiki It seems that I asked you the difficult question. Thank you for giving me some information. I tried taking a look at the website Kiki told me. I was able to understand it. Surprisingly my husband knows well about the book "Cathedrals of England" apeared at the website. In fact it was published by his company a few years ago. I was really surprised. I have never been to England. Reading your messages made me want to go there more and more. Ann Wed May 18 at 18.08 Where did you see it Kiki? I'd like to see it if I have time. I went to Chichibu by Express called Red allow of Seibu line yesterday. There were a lot of rhododendrons on a hillside in a forest. I found it on the Net. So I went there to take some photos. They were really wonderful. I've never seen such a mysterious floweres. But walking up and down was hard work for me. Bisides, when I went back to the bus stop there weren't any guides there. I followed some women. But we were lost in the forest for a while. I don't want to go there again. Apricot Wed May 18 at 11.50 I saw a film called The Sea Inside yesterday. It’s Spanish and it’s based on the true story. It’s about a man who had paralysis of all four limbs. When he was 25 years old he had the accident. He dived in to the sea. Unfortunately it was the ebb tide he broke his neck and had it. Afterwards he was in bed for 28 years. His family looked after him very kindly although he decided to have mercy killing. But it was illegal. The film tells us what he and his suporters did. I was very moved by the film. Kiki Tue May 17 at 10.30 I went to Toshimaen today. There's a nice Onsen. It's not so far from my house, so I've been there sometimes. I've got a foot massage. It was really nice. Also I had the open air bath in the wonderful view. I was very happy. Apricot Sat May 14 at 22.19 Dear Ann, It's hard to explain what the scissor arches are. But I'll try it. There are three sets of scissor arches in the Cathedral. I think they are kind of gates. They are in the nave and it looks like inverted scissors. I found one of the photos of it on the Net. People say that Seeing is believing. Please look at it. http://www.shikoda.org/wells3.htm Have you been to England, Ann? If you haven’t I recommend to go there. There are a lot of wonderful places to see. Kiki Sat May 14 at 21.52 Hi, Ann. I'm sorry that Ican't explain how to say in detail with my poor English. Usuallythere isn't anything under the ceilings above the altars in some Cathedrals. But there are some scissors formed arches in Wells Cathedral. They have been keeping the height and weight of Cathedral. Kiki explains it more to her, please. Cherry Sat May 14 at 14.39 Thank you for your message, Cherry. I understand your condition. I also got jet lag after I came back from the trip to Spain. Then I didn't feel like doing anything. Please take care of yourself. You two seem to have really enjoyed your trip. I have a question about your message. What's a "scissor arch". If you don't mind, can you explain it in detail? Ann Sat May 14 at 9.29 Dear Ann. I'm sorry thatIdidn't answer your question at once. AfterIgot back, I have been suffering from jet lag. I haven't done anything else. From when I saw some photos of Bath in our English school, Iwanted to go there some day. Fortunately Kiki told me to go there. Sarah took us to Wells. We spent a wonderful time. Kiki found out of it on internet. Wells Cathedral was very beautiful. Especially the scissor arches in the Cathedral were magnificent. I have never seen them. Through this trip I admired Kiki again. She is not only an English wizard but also a computer one. Cherry Thu May 12 at 17.21 Thank you for answering my questions, Kiki. Your messages made me exciting. It seems you went to a lot of places for a short term. It was good that you had a lot of opportunities to speak English, wasn't it? You must have had some interesting experiences. If you remember something, please tell me again. Ann Wed May 11 at 17.35 I'm sorry Ann, I forgot to tell you about transport that we took. We got on the coach, buses, trains and undegrounds. And Barbara took us to some places by her car. Ann Wed May 4 at 9.06 Today I went to the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno to see 'Georges de La Tour's Exhibition'. I bought the ticket a few month ago. I was looking forward to seeing it. Although his paintings were not so many, he became a famous artest. His works were very dark painting. He made a shading from the light of candles in the pictures. It made a deep atmosphere. I'm interested in his way. Apricot Mon May 2 at 22.13 I'm wondering where Simon and Michiko are traveling now. I'm looking forward to seeing his photos from there. And also Kiki and Cherry are having a nice holiday in England. I'm looking forward to hearing about their holiday. I went to Tochigi prefecture to see my sister on thursday. Cherry Sat Apr 2 at 11.32 Yesterday I went to the Big Camera to ask them how to take photos with a manual way. There are a few people in the shop where I bought the SLR camera. Apricot Wed Mar 16 at 18.17 Last Saturday I watched the 77th Academy awards digest version on TV. I enjoyed it very much. Everyone who got an Oscar made a wonderful speech. But the most impressed one was Jamie Foxx's. He is an African American and in a film called Ray. He thanked to Martin Luther King, Sidney Portier as they gave him a hope and also his family especially his grandmother. Every speaker except a man thanked the people who worked with and their family. The man got an Oscar as a theme song of the film " Motor cycle Diaries" he just sung one phrase of the song instead of speech. It was nice. Kiki Tue Mar 15 at 22.17 The film you saw sounds wonderful, Apricot. After I read your message I saw the trailer on the Net. Before I saw it I thought the dialogue must be Italian. But I was wrong it's English. I’d like to see it. Kiki Mon Mar 14 at 23.11 It's my pleasur Chary. I'm happy you like them. I saw a film called 'Between Strangers' at the Chante cine today. His flower was beautiful. Our group's got the second prize at the display category. In the celemony Royal Hisako Takamado complimented us in English. Her speech was wonderful. Apricot Sat Feb 19 at 15.11 I went to the Nichigeki to see 'The Phantom of the Opera. Kiki, as you said I could see it with the great sounds. The music was wonderful. Especially a lead actress Emmy Rossum sung songs excellently. She used to sing at the Metolopolitan Opera. The other day I saw her in the some interview on TV. There were a lot of their photos in the Gallary. But I didn't understand how nice photos they were. Apricot Sat Feb 12 at 22.34 Thank you for your suggestion, Kiki. I love to go a big cinema but she is very busy. While her mother goes to an old person's home from 9 a.m to 4 p.m, she is free. So we haven't enough time to go far from her house. She has been looking after her mother for a long time. Her mother is getting more and more senile. Sometimes her mother tells her "What's your name?" I know well her position. Cherry Sat Feb 12 at 14.16 Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Cherry. Did you blame her? But look on the bright side. I recommend you to see it in a big cinema like the Nichigeki in Yurakucho. I think sound is better than small ones. Kiki Fri Feb 11 at 18.54 Yesterday I went to see a film called "the Phantom of the Opera" with one of my friends. But I'm afraid we couldn't see it. Do you think what happened? When she came to Ikebukuro, she had changed her handbag for another one. Then she had left our tickets in house. We are going to see it in next Saturday. Cherry Fri Feb 11 at 12.04 This morning I went to the Takinogawa library to pick up the book I reserved. When I went there, there were several fire engines and an ambulance in front of the hall. And there were also a lot of fire fighters. I wondered what happened and thought it might be a fire drill. But I was wrong. A librarian told me that there was a small fire somewhere in the hall and we were told to go out from the building. That is why I couldn't get the book. Two hours later I went there again and I've got the book called Che Guevara. Kiki Wed Feb 9 at 22.29 Are you going to the cinema? Cherry. I have the musical's CD. If you like I'll lend you. I bought the DVD "Orlando" recently and watched it last night. I enjoyed it very much. It's based on a novel by Virginia Woolf. There's the making story in it. It was very interesting. Kiki Thu Feb 3 at 23.05 I read a romantic obituary today. An old couple died the same day. Both of them had been in hospital since last month. But they were in different hospital though. Their funeral is going to hold together. It's wonderful, isn't it? I think they must have loved each other deeply. I'm jealous of them. Kiki Wed Feb 2 at 22.00 Today I met a friend of mine who's been to Spain. She gave me some olive oil I had asked her to buy it in Spain.I was very glad. We had lunch at the restaurant called Tootenkou in Ueno. It's famous for Chinese food. It was a buffet. It was nice and cheap. we enjoyed it very much. We've had enough. Apricot Sun Jan 23 at 21.13 What a shame that I missed your exhibition. I look forward to seeing a next exhibition. Please tell me before that, Aprikot. I got e-mail from an English friend. She told me about a film called Ladies in Lavender. I didn't know it even the title. I checked it on the Net and learned that it will be released sometime in this year. In Japan usually foreign films are released after long time it was made. The film seems to be good. Maggie Smith and Judi Denck are in it. I want to see it. Kiki Tue Jan 18 at 23.30 I went to Ginza to take my flowers from our exhibition today.Kiki and Cherry thanks for thinking about me. Our group has it evry January at the Matuzakaya. I didn't expect to win any prize. Because I couldn't exhibit any flowers what I wanted. They didn't flower on time. Then I exhibited a small one.Even so I've got a small prize. I was lucky.I'm sorry I saw your messages tonight. Apricot Tue Jan 18 at 22.31 I'm sorry to hear that you have a pain in your knees, Apricot. Whereabouts in Ginza is the exhibition? However I couldn't go there due to being hurt of my knee. I'm going to take it back the last day. Apricot Sun Jan 16 at 14.23 How surprised you were, Ann! When I went abroad, I had never had targets for pickpockets. Did you go up to the top of Sagrada Familia? I went there with my daughter. There were about four hundred stairs. It looked like seashells near the top of the stairs. Cherry Sat Jan 15 at 22.05 We also stopped at Mijas, Cherry. It was a pretty town. At the end of our trip we were supposed to act for ourselves. In Barcelona my husband and I went to a museum by underground. On the way back my husband came across a pickpocket in the train. He realized her hand in his pocket. He graspped it immediately. Fortunately he had nothing in his pocket. My heart beat fast. We heard that the underground is dangerous. I thought that was right. Anyway we were relieved that we had no injury and loss. Ann Sat Jan 15 at 13.53 Thanks Ann. I went to the same place as you. But I went to Sevillia, Cordoba and Mijas more. Mijas was a small town. There were a lot of white houses. They were hanging flowerpots. I like this town. You remind me of my trip. Cherry Fri Jan 14 at 22.01 Thank you for your concern, Kiki and Cherry. And we bought some olive oil for eating in Spain, Apricot. This time we joined a package tour. We went to Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Costa del Sol and Barcelona. I enjoyed a lot of paintings in some famous museums. We also went to the Alhambra, Cherry. It was very beautiful. And we went to the Sagrada Familia like a site of construction. It was very big. What impressed me most was that many streets were illuminated for Christmas. Those illuminations were designed variously. They made me happy. Ann Tue Jan 11 at 22.51 A friend of mine has gone to Spain. She will be back tomorrow.I asked her to buy some olive oil for a body. I bought it in there five years ago. It was good for my skins. I'm looking forward to seeing her. Apricot Tue Jan 11 at 11.04 Welcome, Ann. We hadn't got any message in both shiritori and chat from you for a couple weeks. So I wondered what happened to you. You had a wonderful time with your husband. Whereabouts in Spain did you go? I went to Alhambra palace eight years ago. It was beautiful. Please tell me more details for Spain. Cherry Mon Jan 10 at 23.23 Dear Ann. I'm very glad to read your message. To tell you the truth I was worried about you. Whereabouts in Spain did you go? What was the best thing in your trip? Tell us more about it. Kiki Mon Jan 10 at 23.10 Happy New Year, too. It's been a long time. Actually my husband and I went to Spain at the end of last year. After coming home, I'd been haveing jet lag. And I'd been busy on New Year's days. Recently I've got back to common daily life. I'd like to study English little by little again. Ann Sun Jan 9 at 9.45 Happy New Year everybody! How was your holiday? Yesterday I saw a film called Man on Fire. It was very exciting. Denzel Washington and Dakota Faning are in it.They acted very well. The story was based on a novel by A.J Quinnel. Kiki Wed Jan 5 at 23.08 I wrote a wonderful gadget on the last Tuesday. But I'm afraid I didn't write the most important function. It can charge a battery for a mobile phone without any socket. We only wind the handle crank to charge it up. So there isn't any electric charge. Cherry Sat Dec 25 at 17.37 I'm afraid I didn't do them, Kiki. But I would love to keep Japanese traditions. | ||
