Chasis and pan servo.

All my rigs are built round a Futoba S3003 servo adapted for 360 degree rotation. There are 2 ways to do this, the standard way suitable for Futoba or "smart" rigs and the dumb servo method which is suitable for "simple" rigs.

&bull A 4mm bolt fitted through the final servo gear passes through a collar at the top and can be attached either to a pendulum or a picavet.
&bull The 1/4 inch bolt at the bottom can either be connected directly to the camera via a pair of tripod heads or to a camera cradle with a tilt servo.
&bull Batteries are secured to the two 3mm bolts on the right and the aluminium plates are far apart enough to retain a range of battery sizes.
&bull A plastic box containing electrics is fixed to the two nearest bolts. Video, if required, can be "tied" to the two bolts on the opposite side.
&bull This system leaves the pan servo hanging freely in its collar; this is important as horizontal pressures can restrict rotation.

This arrangement is very ballanced around the axis of rotation. Cameras or cradles attached to to the 1/4 inch bolt can be adjusted for precise balance.
